The ATO is continuing their fight against the cash economy by visiting various businesses in capital cities that are operating as “cash only”
Being at a higher risk of not correctly reporting sales,
businesses under scrutiny include an estimate of 45% of cafes and restaurants, and over half of the hair and beauty services.
It is reported that the ATO will be sending officers to visit these types of businesses directly, where they will be obtaining information as part of their field work.
Unfortunately, however, it is unknown whether undercover visits will be followed by official visits.
